Specializing in cow farming, the farmer faced high energy bills due to substantial hot water usage essential for dairy operations.

Project Details: The installation was tailored to harness solar energy to heat water, a critical resource in dairy farming for cleaning and processing. Given the farm's specific energy consumption patterns and the scale of hot water demand, it was determined that incorporating battery storage would not be cost-effective.

Financial Impact: The solar diversion system significantly reduced the farm's energy expenses. The savings generated from lower utility bills were substantial enough to repay the borrowed funds. The financial model effectively made the system cost-neutral to the farmer in 5 years.

The brewery installed solar photovoltaic (PV) panels coupled with battery storage, SMA inverters and a hot water diversion solution, aligning with its sustainability goals and the unique demands of beer production.

  • Solar PV Panels: These panels were installed across available rooftop spaces to generate electricity, harnessing sunlight most efficiently during peak daytime hours when brewery operations were most active.

The brewery used solar energy for approximately 75% of its total energy needs, significantly cutting down on electricity purchases from the grid. The cost savings from the reduced energy expenditure provided a return on investment within five years, after which the brewery benefited from almost free electricity and hot water.
